Origin story
In 2001, guys with big dreams started turning them into a magenta reality. Competing on the global IT market over the past two decades hasn’t been easy, but it was a fun and memorable journey for sure. And here we are now. XLAB has grown into a global company, actively contributing to European research sphere and delivering services to users in more than 100 countries worldwide. Among thousands of EU-funded innovations, XLAB’s IoT Interoperability Middleware (INTER-MW) has been among eight nominated in the Industrial & Enabling Tech category in 2019 and among three finalists for Best Early Stage innovation in 2018.
In cooperation with long-time partner OceanBridge Co., Ltd., ISL Online established a new partnership with Microsoft Japan and SB C&S to offer secure remote desktop and remote access services as a private cloud hosted on Microsoft Azure instances.
In addition to being Red Hat Advanced Business Partner, XLAB also became Red Hat Technology Partner. XLAB Steampunk team works closely with Red Hat and its partners to extend the capabilities of Red Hat Ansible Automation and Red Hat CloudForms.

XLAB Research received funding for three new research projects in the H2020 program and is also coordinating one of them.
XLAB became Red Hat Advanced Business Partner for Cloud Infrastructure. XLAB’s service XLAB Steampunk is included in the special Red Hat Solutions+ program.

The SmartLocator application was chosen for Best Cloud-based Innovation 2015.
XLAB was chosen the exporter of the year 2014 within the International Trade Management (ITM) program, held under the auspices of the Public Agency SPIRIT Slovenia.
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Slovenia (GZS) gave out Golden Awards for Best Innovations in Slovenia, XLAB among recipients with SmartLocator - application for instant and accurate smartphone call location acquisition.
SmartLocator, installed at the Administration of the Republic of Slovenia for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief, received The Outstanding Emergency Services Innovation Award.
Web certificate, issued by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry and credit rating agency COFACE Slovenia, on the company’s creditworthiness
GAEA+ won 1st prize at the NASA World Wind competition. Its 3D GIS visualization application Gaea+ was awarded with the highest score. The improved functionalities were implemented in the NASA’s 3D geospatial visualization platform core.

5th Slovenian Innovation Forum was held at the Ljubljana Exhibition and Convention Centre. PHOV service - 3D Reconstruction of Models from Photographs - fell short of 1st place in the category of innovative services.
ISL Online was placed among the 12 UK’s most innovative companies with Cloud enabling technologies and Cloud services solutions.
