Backend Developer (Automation & Cloud Infrastructure)

At XLAB, we have a wide range of projects, as well as one of the strongest research teams in Slovenia. We regularly participate in European research projects, where we develop new technologies and design frameworks that could be used in the future as innovative solutions in the evolving fields of cloud services, IoT, cybersecurity, and AI.

We also collaborate closely with Red Hat, a leading provider of open-source solutions. Together with Red Hat development and product teams, we develop services for automation and management of modern data centers. We are also developing our own commercial solution, Steampunk Spotter, for Ansible content analysis and maintenance. In addition, we deliver commercial projects for both domestic and international customers and maintain production systems across a variety of environments.

We’re looking to expand our team with a talented Backend Developer. If you join us, you’ll have the opportunity to work on:

• Backend development of software solutions and services (focused on Python),
• automation of development and deployment processes using tools such as Ansible and Terraform,
• expanding test frameworks and improving existing solutions,
• European research projects and the development of future technologies,
• system integration, cloud-native architectures, monitoring and security frameworks,
• development of products and platforms running on modern containerized infrastructure (Docker, Kubernetes),
• collaboration with international technology partners.

SKILLS we’re looking for

• Experience and ability to independently develop software in Python,
• experience with deployment tools and processes,
• experience with git source code management,
• understanding of software architecture and system integration principles,
• ability to independently provide and justify problem solutions,
• English proficiency.

BONUS SKILLS (can be useful, but don’t worry if you don’t have them)

• Docker and Kubernetes,
• infrastructure and configuration management tools (Ansible, Terraform),
• software testing (integration and regression testing),
• designing, developing, and maintaining web APIs,
• Django, Flask, Spring Boot or similar frameworks,
• SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.),
• CI/CD pipelines and development automation,
• cloud platforms (Azure, AWS),
• virtualization technologies (KVM, VirtualBox, Vagrant),
• message brokers and protocols (RabbitMQ, AMQP),
• monitoring, observability, and logging solutions.
