Project Manager

Do you get a kick out of seeing a complex project land exactly where it should? Are you organized, do you understand how business works, and do you know how to build long-term client relationships?

At XLAB, we have a wide range of projects, as well as one of the strongest research teams in Slovenia. We regularly participate in European research projects, where we develop new technologies in cloud services, IoT, cybersecurity and AI. We collaborate closely with Red Hat, develop our own commercial product, Steampunk Spotter, and deliver commercial projects for both domestic and international customers.

As a Project Manager, you’ll own the organization and business side of our projects, as well as client relationships. On the technical side, you’ll work closely with the Head of Engineering, backed by the engineering team.

Your mission

• Organizing, planning and running projects (scope, timeline, budget, risks),
• building and maintaining relationships with clients, partners and consortia,
• the business side of projects, from offers and contracts to tracking costs and results,
• spotting opportunities for follow-up work and growing business with existing clients,
• working closely with the Head of Engineering on team allocation and capacity,
• shaping project scope and preparing work estimates, with technical support from the Head of Engineering and the engineering team,
• clearing blockers so the team can focus on building.

SKILLS we’re looking for

• 3+ years of project management experience in software development,
• excellent organizational skills and a structured way of working,
• business acumen and experience managing client relationships,
• ability to work closely with the Head of Engineering on project scoping and estimation,
• initiative and clear communication,
• fluency in Slovenian and English.

BONUS SKILLS (can be useful, but don’t worry if you don’t have them)

• Experience in sales, business development or key account management,
• experience with EU projects,
• experience preparing offers and work estimates (SOWs),
• project management certifications,
• understanding of the software development lifecycle,
• familiarity with automation, cloud or AI.
