This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon Europe research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 101189589.

The O-CEI project aims to accelerate the adoption of cutting-edge Cloud-Edge-IoT solutions, boosting Europe’s competitiveness and technological independence. By enabling seamless data sharing across industries, reducing energy consumption, fostering dynamic marketplaces, and promoting open standards for virtualization and interoperability, O-CEI lays the groundwork for a smarter and greener future.

At the heart of the project are eight real-world pilot programs in key strategic sectors, including electromobility, software-defined vehicles, agrifood and agriculture, logistics and urban environments. These pilots will test and demonstrate how innovative technologies in cloud continuum can create value across industries and help meet the growing demand for energy flexibility.

O-CEI goes beyond current solutions by designing blueprints and offering tools that tackle complex challenges across the cloud continuum. This work will benefit businesses, individuals, and cross-industry value chains, creating a foundation for sustainable growth and innovation.

Why it matters:

O-CEI addresses pressing global challenges like energy efficiency, climate change, and secure data exchange. The project empowers industries with advanced tools, ensuring they can adapt to future needs while minimizing their environmental footprint. Its outcomes will ripple worldwide, helping create smarter cities, sustainable agriculture, and resilient energy systems.

XLAB’s role

XLAB leads the integration efforts and contributes methodologies, tools and expertise for secure, trustable, and compliant software deployment (DevSecOps). XLAB also contributes with data space methodologies for O-CEI Open Platform and Marketplace and provides machine-learning-based solutions for electricity demand predictions, driving energy efficiency across sectors.
