SYNTATIC

SYNTACTIC tackles one of Europe’s hardest data problems. How can reliable AI be trained and deployed in sectors where real-world data is scarce, sensitive, biased or legally hard to share? The project does not work around the shortage. It builds a secure and compliant framework for generating, validating and reusing synthetic data across European data spaces.

Over three years, a consortium of 25 partners from 13 countries develops an integrated platform. The platform brings together the technical, regulatory, governance, security and interoperability layers that trusted synthetic data needs. It covers the full lifecycle: generation, validation, traceability and reuse. It also connects to European data spaces and initiatives such as regulatory sandboxes and AI-on-Demand. Six pilots demonstrate and stress-test the platform in telecom (5G/6G and O-RAN), maritime, Green Deal and sustainability, finance, aerospace, and health.

Why it matters:

Many of Europe’s strategic sectors cannot move faster on AI because the data they need is locked behind privacy, scarcity, bias or cross-border sharing constraints. GDPR, the AI Act, the Data Act and sector-specific rules add more complexity. SYNTACTIC gives organisations a lawful and interoperable path to that data. It unlocks AI use cases that would otherwise stall, and it builds compliance, fairness and privacy in by design.
