The development and adoption of a variety of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies has increased in recent years, and is having a tremendous impact on businesses, consumers, and governments. Technological advancements are changing the way industry develops and delivers new products and services, as well as shaping our everyday lives - the way we live, work and learn.
But as IoT devices grow, so does the number of attacks and threats associated with them. Attacks are becoming more sophisticated and the need for effective cybersecurity mechanisms has become even more pressing. The introduction of new digital technologies, such as 5G, will only intensify the situation and could potentially cause enormous economic and physical consequences.
Current practices do not fully address the security and privacy concerns related to IoT and other emerging technologies. Arcadian-IoT faces this challenge by developing and delivering an innovative, advanced framework for trust, security and privacy management in IoT systems, which promotes trustworthy IoT systems. The project addresses multiple entities in IoT systems, including people, IoT devices/objects, and apps/services.
Arcadian-IoT accelerates the development towards decentralized, transparent and user controllable privacy in three real use cases and improves cybersecurity awareness through a cybersecurity training package.
XLAB contributes to the project by implementing the cryptographic protocols. Advanced techniques like Functional Encryption, Secure Multi-Party Computation, and Zero-Knowledge Proofs are applied to make the IoT systems more secure and privacy-friendly.
