This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 690907.

Identity project is set out to share scientific, innovative and practical knowledge among academia, industry and end users through international intersectional secondments and event organisations. Knowledge sharing will be developed based on the beneficiaries’/partners’ and advisors’ background, research capacity and experience in the areas of machine learning, computer vision, pattern recognition, image analysis, signal processing, forensics, and law enforcement. The exchange of knowledge will be organised around secondments and main work packages. The participation of international partners in North America, Latin America and Asia will provide an international dimension to the project and will enhance the potential to disseminate results at an international scale.

The main aim of IDENTITY project is to enhance international and European collaborations in research, entrepreneurial development and innovation within the area of multimedia and biometric forensics. To this end, IDENTITY has the specific objectives. The first objective is to promote knowledge transfer among research institutions and private companies about methodologies for identification within a forensic context. Two main lines of identification are considered, imaging device identification for multimedia forensics, and people identification, for biometric forensics. The second objective is to enhance research programs by incorporating experience of private companies and police investigators from real identification scenarios and forensic cases. The last but not least objective is to disseminate knowledge and technologies internationally to ensure a wide impact and a continuing fostering of the multimedia forensics and biometric forensics communities.

XLAB’s role

XLAB with expertise in distributed and parallel computing, market oriented software development and experience in system integration will help to improve the computational performance of the software to be developed in WP1 and WP2.

XLAB will also transfer its knowledge about tailoring generic technologies to the specific needs of real-world applications, design of user requirements process and practice of software development and engineering, and GUI design to help enhance the commercial relevance and quality of research of the academic participants.
